15 anos: Relembre polêmica ordem da Ferrari para Barrichello

Scuderia obrigou brasileiro a deixar o companheiro Schumacher passar por disputa de campeonato e provocou vaia e ira da torcida austríaca

Um dos episódios mais famosos dos últimos anos da Fórmula 1 completa 15 anos nesta sexta-feira (12). Em 2002, nesta data foi disputado o GP da Áustria, marcado pela ordem de equipe desnecessária da Ferrari para Rubens Barrichello no final da prova após um final de semana dominador do brasileiro.

Depois de conquistar a pole position no sábado por mais de 0s6 em cima do parceiro Michael Schumacher, e pouco menos de 0s3 à frente da Williams de Ralf Schumacher com o potente motor de classificação da BMW, Rubinho era o favorito para ganhar a prova. (CONFIRA GALERIA ABAIXO)

Na saída, Michael passou o irmão Ralf e ficou atrás de Barrichello durante a prova toda. As duas Ferraris andaram juntas durante as 71 voltas, ficando na mesma ordem após duas entradas de Safety Car e duas paradas nos boxes.

O fim do GP chegava, e com ele o fantasma de 2001. No ano anterior, tentando dar o maior número de pontos a Schumacher na luta pelo campeonato contra David Coulthard e a McLaren, a Ferrari ordenou que Barrichello deixasse o alemão passar pelo segundo posto enquanto o escocês liderava. Um ano depois, era pela vitória.

E a pergunta que todos se faziam era: será que a Ferrari vai ser capaz de tamanha insensibilidade? Schumacher não parecia ter concorrência pelo título, já que havia vencido quatro das cinco provas e tinha uma vantagem de 21 pontos para Juan Pablo Montoya no mundial. Barrichello, que havia finalizado apenas uma das cinco corridas até então, tinha a oportunidade de vencer a segunda prova da carreira apenas.

Mas a ordem foi dada, e Barrichello, que acabara de assinar um contrato de dois anos com a Ferrari, obedeceu.

Não foi uma decisão popular: mesmo a torcida austríaca, próxima culturalmente da Alemanha e acostumada a torcer pela Ferrari após os títulos de Niki Lauda e os bons anos de Gerhard Berger, vaiou o time italiano a plenos pulmões. Fazendo sinal de negativo, a torcida mostrou sua fúria a Michael Schumacher quando o alemão desceu do carro.

No pódio, Schumacher colocou Barrichello no lugar mais alto, deu o troféu de primeiro lugar e reverenciou o brasileiro. Ajudou um pouco a melhorar a situação com a torcida, mas a Ferrari foi multada em um milhão de dólares meses depois por quebrar o protocolo na cerimônia do pódio.
